:OVERVIEW: It automatically discovers configuration items (CIs) across disparate technology layers – from business applications to switches and all the dependencies in between – and provides the information in a single, automated view. Foundation maps business applications to their underlying physical and virtual infrastructure, making it quick and easy to see exactly how your infrastructure supports your business.
:FOUNDATION: Foundation builds a complete topology of your applications and infrastructure including switches, servers, operating systems, software, configuration files and logs, business applications and dependencies – and updates it as often as you need. Unlike other solutions, Foundation operates agent-free across Windows, Linux, UNIX and Netware environments. It utilizes standard management protocols such as SSH, WMI and SNMP.
:APPLICATION MODELING: Foundation’s unique pattern language automatically identifies IT components and configurations. Simple, powerful and open, the pattern language codifies expert knowledge – the investigative, exception handling, filtering, alerting and interpretation processes used by system administrators. Patterns automatically interpret raw, discovered data – from individual software processes to large scale distributed business applications. Foundation comes pre-populated with patterns to recognize over 300 infrastructure software products – and adds more patterns monthly to ensure the broadest, deepest data center coverage.
:AUTOMATIC GROUPING: Automatic Grouping builds groups of servers that work closely together, based on an analysis of the communications between them. It highlights high-risk servers that touch a large portion of the estate. Hosts can be excluded from automatic grouping, allowing you to remove highly connected hosts for better analysis of the others.
